Using the Midjourney zoom-out feature is quite straightforward. This tool gives you the capacity to generate an image that is twice the original size in its zoomed-out version. I experimented with this feature to determine the number of zoomed-out instances I could generate before the AI starts to falter.
Step one – Create an image that you would like to create wider perspective images of:

Once created, Midjourney gives you the options via buttons under the image that say either – ‘Zoom Out 2x’, ‘Zoom Out 1.5x’ or ‘Custom Zoom’. ‘Custom Zoom’ option will only let you pick a number between 1.0 and 2.0. Orignally I thought this may let you go higher then 2.0 but I was disappointed.
The following is the first result I got:

Zoomed out x 2.0:

I then took the last image and zoomed out by 2.0 again:

Lets see what happens when I do this again by x 2.0:

So far I am impressed with the Midjourney zoom function. I can see this being used for short animations.

The AI seemed to reach its limit at this point. Because when I tried to use the zoom out feature again from the above image, I got the following results:

As you can see from the image above this is the point that Midjouney was unable to zoom out any further.
Conclusion
The Midjourney zoom-out tool can be particularly valuable when you’re aiming to narrate a story or provide perspective. Its potential uses extend beyond just static storyboarding to include the creation of brief animations. While this feature is very user-friendly, it’s important to note that it does have certain boundaries.
