The ultimate list of Midjourney commands

Midjourney commands present users with a diverse array of options for interaction with the AI bot on Discord, from generating spectacular images, to modifying default settings, tracking user profiles, and more. These commands function in any bot-friendly channel on private Discord servers, or even via direct messages with the bot.

Midjourney command primer

Here are some of the foundational commands to familiarise yourself with in order to maximise your interaction with Midjourney:

/imagine: The fundamental command used to create images based on text prompts.

/help: Reveals valuable information and advice about using Midjourney.

/info: Uncovers details about your user profile.

Advanced options for the “/imagine” command

Parameters are additional inputs that can be incorporated into the /imagine command to alter the image generation process. The most frequently used parameters include:

-w: Determines the width of the image.

-h: Sets the height of the image.

-seed: Assigns a seed value for the image creation process.

-sameseed: Uses the same seed value for all images.

-no: Excludes a specified element from the image.

-beta: An experimental approach to image generation.

-hd: An established technique for producing high-resolution images.

-aspect/-ar: Generates images in a specific aspect ratio.

-iw: Defines the image prompt weight.

-stylize <number>: Dictates the intensity of image style.

-v <1 or 2>: Uses a legacy algorithm for the last enhancement.

-uplight: Engages the “light” upscaler for image creation.

-chaos <number>: Adjusts the randomness factor in the image.

-fast: Rapid image generation, trading off consistency and cost.

-stop: Halts the image creation process.

Using a URL as inspiration

Add a URL to the /imagine command, and Midjourney will use it as a source of inspiration or reference:

/imagine: [URL of reference image]

Command parameters for image quality

Quality commands balance the trade-off between speed and image quality, affecting the generation time and overall quality of the image:

-q 0.25: Faster generation with rougher results.

-q 0.5: Quick and less detailed.

-q 1: Standard quality setting.

-q 2: Slower but more detailed.

-q 5: Experimental quality setting.

Assigning text weights

Add weights to elements of your prompt to either emphasise or downplay them. The default weight is 1 if no specific weight is assigned:

/imagine banana::1.5 fruit::-1

/imagine shark::1.25 fish::-0.75

Command parameters for stylisation

Stylisation commands control the artistic style of the images. The following values will manipulate the degree of stylisation:

-s 625: Minimalistic artistry.

-s 1250: Aesthetic balance with less adherence to rigidity.

-s 2500: Default stylisation setting.

-s 20000: Stylisation dominance.

-s 60000: Maximum stylisation potential.

Preferences and settings commands

Customise your Midjourney settings and preferences with these commands:

/settings: Opens the settings menu.

/prefer suffix: Modifies non-visual settings.

/prefer suffix <text>: Attaches a specific suffix to every prompt.

/prefer auto_dm True: Automatically sends generated images to your Direct Messages.

/prefer option set <name> <value>: Assigns a value shortcut, akin to keyboard shortcuts.

/prefer option list: Lists your preferred settings.
